How to get to Nepal?
Well it’s going to take a little more effort than it would to get to hotels in Devon but it’s not rocket science or laser eye surgery to get there although the best way to get there is of course by air.
Taking a holiday is a great idea. It is the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and recharge that hard worn battery. It may be a great experience for your mind, but what about your skin and hair? Many women are put off bathing in the sea as it makes a mess of their hair and also does strange things to the skin condition. Factors that affect these are ultra violet radiation, sea breeze, insects and chlorine – present in all swimming pools. The effect of some of these can be a massive irritant and make the complexion look dry and blotchy and the hair reduced to a flat and lifeless appearance and not be great if you are going to a fancy dress party.
One of the main causes of dry skin whilst on holiday is from over exposure to the sun and its harmful UV rays which tend to break down the collagen in the skin and cause premature ageing. The sun can also cause pigmented patches and age spots. Unfortunately sun damage is largely irreparable, so prevention is definitely better than a cure,’ according to Nina Goad of the British Association of Dermatologists.
Both UVA and UVB rays damage skin. While UVB is responsible for sunburn, UVA can age the skin. You have to take extra care as UVA can also penetrate the glass in your windows. Here are some suggestions for maximizing your dry skin care whilst enjoying yourself on your vacation:
- Use a gentle moisturiser or calamine lotion and avoid soap.
- For severe itching and sunburn try bathing in a coolish bath with some moisturising oils (this helps with dryness and itching).
- Drink plenty of fluids, but limit your consumption of alcohol.
- Take an anti-inflammatory painkiller for painful sunburn.
- If you feel dizzy or sick, or your skin blisters or is badly swollen, you may need to see a doctor.
